As a production team, we didn't have to look far to find our ideal Winnie Foster. When we approached twelve year-old Sofia Bordner about possibly playing this role, she was more than excited. But the rights were not available to community theater just yet. So we had to push ahead and try to get them if we could. The first step was to record videos of her singing two of the most important songs from the show and then send them to Becky Titelman's friend, Chris Miller, the composer of Tuck Everlasting. He loved her performance, and he proceeded to help us obtain the rights. Without Chris, this might never have happened. But without Sofia, this idea might never have become such an amazing opportunity, such a dream come true for our first musical for Scottfield Theatre Company. Sofia Bordner will be playing the lead role of Winnie Foster, an eleven year-old girl who is never allowed outside of her own garden gates. She will bring wonderful vocals to the role, as well as a sophistication and maturity, making her a joy to work with. You do not want to miss this girl's performance this October!
